What kind of hair product is this called?

It's where you shampoo and condition your hair, then you take the hair product (whatever it is) and you rub it into your hair while your hair is still wet. Then you grab the end of your hair, squeeze it in a fist, release, move an inch or so upward, squeeze your hair in a fist, release, move upward, etc. At the end, your hair is wavy and almost even crimped-looking. What product is this? How much is it?What kind of hair product is this called?

I believe you're describing a curl hold or gel that is applied by scrunching into hair.

There are countless items that fall into this category. My favorites are Aveda Be Curly curl enhancer ($18) and Aveda Confixor liquid gel ($17). Be Curly works with your natural curl when you scrunch it into damp hair, while Confixor creates waves with flexible hold when you scrunch it into damp hair. Choose the above product that best matches with your description or combine them for both properties.
mousse

it gives your hair body and holds it in place a little bit. be careful though, depending on the texture and colour of your hair it can make it look greasy

depending on what kind you get it can range from a few dollars, to very expensive. you can get it anywhere where they sell hair products. Target, Walmart, any hair salon.
are you talking about scrunching? if so while your hair is wet aply some mousse and do the scrunch technique as you stated then blow dry on low and apple some sprunch spray made by aussie (around 2 dollars) do the scrunch tecnique again and blow dry on low once more.
